Captain Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed

Name

          Captain Karnal Sher Khan was born in Naway Kiley (Shewa Adda), which is  a village in Swabi  of Districtof Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan on 1 January 1970. He was a Pakistan Army Officer at the of Captain in the 27 Sindh Regiment of the Pakistan. During Kargil Conflict, he was posted to 12 NLI Regiment. He was martyred at the post of Captan Kargil Conflict with India in 1999.  His father wants to him to be a Colonel in Pakistan Army, but he Martyred at the rank of Captain. So his father changed his named to Captain Karnal Sher Khan. His village also named after him “Village of Karnal Sher Khan"

Early life

         Captain Sher Khan were 5 brothers and sisters, 2 brother and 2 sisters and he was a youngest among them. In 1978 his mother was died, when was 8 years old. His paternal aunts grew him up. He belongs to a deeply religious family and he was also religious personality and was a piety person.

Education and Carrer


          He completed his intermediate at the Government College of Swabi. After his intermediate he joined the Pakistan Air Force as an airman. He was appointed as electric fitter (aeronautical) at Primary Flying Training Wing Risalpur, afer completion of training. As an electric fitter in Pakistan Air Force he applied twice for Commissioned Officer in the Pakistan Army. Second time he succeeded In November 1992, he joined the Pakistan Kakul Military Academy. He was smiling and a devoted soldier. He was known as Shera (Lion) for his bravery. He was very famous among his colleagues  and officers. he was volunteered to serve at  Line of Control in Kashmir, In January 1998. He was shifted from  27 Sindh Regiment to 12 NLI Regiment.

Kargil Conflict

       Captain Sher Khan was awarded by the Biggest Pakistan Army Awar the Nishan-e-Haider, for his brave and great actions during the Kargil Conflict with India in 1999.
The official statement of the Pakistan Army is as follows.
           "Captain Karnal Sher Khan act as the symbol of Bravery and courage during the Kargil conflict at the Line of Control (LoC). He set personal examples of bravery and done great losses to the enemy. He repulsed many Indian attacks, by defending the five strategic posts, which he established with his Jawan's at the height of some 17,000 feet at Gultary,. After many failed attempts, the enemy on July 5 ringed the post of Capt. Sher Khan with the help of two battalion and unleashed heavy Mortar firing and managed to capture some part of the post. Despite facing all odds, he led a counter-attack and tried to re-capture the lost parts. But during the course he was hit by themachine-gun fire and embraced Shahadat or martyrdom at the same post. He is the first Pakistan Army officer which belongs to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, who was awarded with Nishan-e-Haider."
          During day, he counter attacked the enemy at Tiger Hill, when enemy could easily see his movements. For Indian Army, it was surprise as they were not expecting the action taken by Captain Karnal Sher Khan. It was like as a suicide counter attack, however, he knows well the importance of the Post. He take this action and enter the enemy post. He not only force enemy to leave the post but he also followed the enenmy to their base camp. At the end he embraced shahadat in this process.
